The Teesta Tales – Sikkim’s Flood

Why Himalayns States are now days flooding more nowadays Be It kedarnath, Himachal or this time SIkkim.

What has happened which has shocked the nation with flood visuals ? The state which has got his identity as an Himalayn state and the most organic state in the world has seen the worst. People have lost lives. Properties and confidence and brand Himalayan image has also been bluirred due to this Tragedy.

What has happened in Tessta river? Was that Nature responsible Citizen responsible or the government As per the reports from the area Chungthang the where South LOnak Glacial Lake is present  which 17000 ft above and there cloud burst happened and water flows with so much speed to downwards.

In simple language cloud burst is the rainfall measure with 100 mm and Lake was also so big so water begin to flow very strongly and it was so strong the walls have been broken and water has gone to met with Teesta River.

But cloud burst is not very accurate data for the day when tragedy happened, even when we compare to other parts of Himlayan region of North bengal like Kalimpong and Darjeeling. Few reports have suggested before that South Lhonak lake may become the future threat for floods because of glaciers melting and being on high altitude.

But like this the threat ia every himlayan region, either in Kashmir, Himachal, Darjeeling, sikkim, or Arunachal pradesh and we dont think we need any other eye opener and to fix it and the the day come 4th october and nightmare begins at midnight Sikkims Chungthang.

 

And after few hours the water has been to all over down areas, Like Gangtok, Pakyong, Namchi or Mangan. This more than 400 Km river also cover areas in North Bengal and Gorkhaland territories as well including Jalpaiguri.

 

But one of the most affected areas is Mangan, where many bridges have collapsed, Many homes have been gone many people have been missing and also bveen rescued by The NDRF team. One of the main city Namchi distic has also been affected by it and many losses have been occurs

 

Here we are not giving you numbers, because numbers are just numbers it cannot justify the deaths and disasters.

 

Army personnel have been drained away in the floods and slowly it has become the central of the news. People have become helpless they have seen the water which has become detah and they were scared and helpless. 

 

Lately people have been moved to camps for tempoeroty basis. Isro have also shared there data and 3rd october Nepals earthquake can also be the reason for the tragedy 

 

But its the instance due to increaing of global warming the the climate change not just the sikkim but all of himalayan regions of the country may have to suffer more if not prevented on time. There have been many institute, individuals have or organisations have aletrted the government about the situations but you know the system, though we all know.

 

We hope in future we dont see such tragics
